We have been having some very lovely early spring weather here in the UK, which has made me want to make some bright, summery jewellery! I came across these turquoise colour wooden beads and knew I had to have them! And paired with this coral thread, it just screams summer!

It uses a technique called right angle weave, which just refers to how the thread is woven through the beads to make them sit at right angles to one another. You could easily repeat this pattern in other types and sizes of beads.

You will need:

-2x 1m of S-Lon/C-Lon thread
-24x 8mm wooden beads
-18x 12mm wooden beads
-Clasp
-2x necklace ends/calottes
-jump ring
-Chain-nose pliers
-Scissors

How To:

1.Knot your two 1m lengths of thread together in an over hand knot, approx 25cm from the end. Thread 3x 8mm beads onto both threads.

2.Take another 8mm bead, hold it so the hole is horizontal and take one thread through left to right, and the other right to left. This is called a crossover bead.

3.Pull thread tightly so the crossover bead sits next to the previous beads.

8.To create the central feature, add 3x 12mm beads on one thread and 1x 12mm on the other, followed by a 12mm crossover bead.

9.Now start going back up the other side, with a single 12mm on each side followed by a crossover.

10. Follow the steps in reverse (so step 7, then 6 etc ) right down to adding the 3x single beads on both threads. Make sure the threads are pulled tight and tie an overhand knot right up against the last bead.

11.To finish your necklace, first take both threads on one side through the hole in a necklace end/calotte and tie an overhand knot where you want your necklace to end.

12.Trim off and excess thrad and close the two halves of the necklace end over the knot. Attach the clasp. Repeat on the other side, this time adding a jump ring.
