Beetroot Tree Workshop–Shrink Plastic

I have been leading the Monday morning ‘Try-Its’ workshop at the Beetroot Tree Gallery in Draycott, Derbyshire since April 2012, and am loving it!

I generally do about 2 a month, each one a standalone workshop on a particular craft, technique or material. Its a great way to try out lots of different media, for me as well as the students! Whilst a lot are jewellery based, I am also getting to delve into lot of other art and craft techniques I have toyed with over the years as well as some new ones. I have been fascinated with shrink plastic for a couple of years now, so I had to include workshops on this amazing material.

These images are from my ‘British Bunting’ workshop a couple of weeks ago. It was all about using basic white shrink plastic and the humble colouring pencil to create pieces of jewellery. In the end we didn’t end up making much bunting at all, but it didn't matter; everyone learnt something and more importantly enjoyed themselves!
